No. SMSPrep works through your phone's native text messages. There are no passwords to remember and nothing to install. If you can send a text, you can use SMSPrep.

SMSPrep is currently in early access. You can join the waitlist today and we'll text you as soon as your spot opens. Early access members get their first month free.

Visit our signup page and enter your email address to join the waitlist. Once your spot opens, we'll send you a welcome text with instructions to choose your subject and schedule.

Most daily sessions take 3 to 5 minutes. It's designed to be a quick, low-friction habit you can do while waiting for the bus, eating breakfast, or between classes.

You choose your preferred delivery time during setup. Most students pick a morning time (7 AM – 8 AM) so they can start their day with a quick study session.

That's okay! Your streak will reset, but your progress and accuracy data are preserved. We'll send a gentle nudge if you miss two days in a row, but there's no penalty — just pick up where you left off.

Reply STOP to any SMSPrep text to immediately pause your messages. You can restart anytime by texting START back. You can also email support@smsprep.com to manage your account.

We currently offer math (algebra, geometry, early calculus), SAT/ACT vocabulary, science (biology, chemistry, physics), English (grammar and reading comprehension), language learning (Spanish, French, German), and professional certification prep. We're adding new tracks regularly.

All questions are written by experienced educators and curriculum designers, then reviewed for accuracy and alignment with common exam standards. We continuously improve questions based on student performance data.

Our SAT/ACT vocabulary track is specifically designed around frequently tested words. Math and science tracks align with common US curriculum standards. We note exam relevance where applicable.

Yes. You can change your subject at any time or add multiple subjects to receive questions from different tracks throughout the week.

All six core tracks (math, vocabulary, science, English, languages, certifications) are available at launch. We're actively developing AP-specific tracks, history, and coding fundamentals based on student requests.

Yes. Our Parent Plan includes weekly progress summaries sent directly to your email. You'll see your child's streak, accuracy by subject, and areas where they might need extra help — without having to ask or nag.

Parents receive a weekly email every Sunday evening with a summary of their student's activity: how many questions they answered, their accuracy rate, streak length, and which topics they found most challenging. No login required.

SMSPrep is designed for students ages 13 and up, from middle school through college. Our SAT/ACT tracks are popular with high school juniors and seniors, while our subject tracks work well for all ages.

Tutors can view their students' progress through weekly email reports, similar to the parent experience. A dedicated tutor dashboard with real-time tracking is on our roadmap.

Yes. Tutors can recommend specific tracks for each student during onboarding. The tutor receives weekly updates on each student's progress to help plan sessions more effectively.

Yes. The free tier gives you one practice text per day with basic subject selection. Upgrade to Plus ($9/mo) for multiple daily questions, instant explanations, and a full progress dashboard.

The Parent Plan ($15/mo) includes everything in Plus, plus weekly progress emails for parents, accountability reminders for students, and access to premium exam prep tracks.

Yes. There are no contracts or cancellation fees. You can cancel your subscription at any time and your texts will continue through the end of your billing period.

SMSPrep does not charge for SMS delivery beyond your subscription price. However, standard text messaging rates from your mobile carrier may apply depending on your phone plan.

SMSPrep works on any phone that can receive SMS text messages — iPhone, Android, or even basic phones. We currently support US and Canadian phone numbers, with more countries coming soon.

Yes. We take student privacy seriously. We don't sell personal data, we follow industry security standards, and we comply with applicable privacy regulations including COPPA for students under 13. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

We collect your phone number, email address, and your responses to practice questions (for tracking progress). We do not collect location data, browsing history, or any information beyond what's needed to deliver the service.
